Double click on My Computer
Double click on the Control Panel
Double click on Internet Options
On this box at the top you will see the following statement:
You can change which page to use for your home
page
Under that you will see the address line, in
that line back space out whatever is there and type the
following:
www.intrstar.net Click Apply and OK at the bottom.
Close the Control Panel (with the X in the top right corner of the screen)
Now you are ready to configure your machine
to dial InterStar, through Dial-Up Networking
Double click on My Computer again
Double click on Dial-Up Networking
Double click on Make New Connection
In the box that appears Enter the word InterStar
Do not enter an area code
Enter the local number you were given when you signed up. You do not
have to enter a dash just the number, Example: 5551234 Always
make sure you are using a number that is local to you, not an extended
local number. If your not sure what your local dial up number is call
the office at 910-564-4638- or 800-840-1113
Click Next
Click Finish
You will now see an InterStar icon in the Dial up Network
box.
Right click on InterStar
Left click on Create Shortcut
You will get a message that says:
Windows cannot place an icon here would you like
for windows to place the icon on your desktop) Click
Yes
Close the windows you have open. To do this click the
X in the top right corner of each window. You should now
be back on the desktop.
Double Click on the InterStar Shortcut
A box will appear for you to type your user name
and password
Example: User name bob
Password xxxxxx (you will always see x’s in the box instead of the password)
Be sure to use lower case letters.
Click Connect
Your computer will now dial and connect you to
the Internet. Once you see the two small computers light
up on the right bottom side of your computer you are
connected to the Internet.
Double click on the blue E or the blue globe
on your desktop to browse the Internet
