Residential E-mail

To login to your e-mail using the web interface, you will click on MailGuard from the drop down.
Then choose Residential or Corporate.

If your logging into residential mail you only need to type the first part of your email address.
Example: bob
Password: xxxxx (you will only see X's when you type the password).

If your logging into a corporate account using your domain email you will need to put your entire email address.
Example: bob@bobsdomain.com
Password: xxxxx (you will only see X's when you type the password)

After you login to Mail Guard you will see a new tool bar which is shown above.

A lot of new items have been added to Mail Guard giving you more options and control.

Compose
This tab will create a new email message to be sent.

Inbox
This is the area that all of you accepted mail is being stored for your viewing.

Folders
In this area you can create, delete, or rename folders that will appear inside of your inbox.

Quarantine
Folder where email that is considered spam is being stored.
In this folder you can:

  • Release it: Releases selected email back to the Inbox.
  • Delete/Undelete: Marks to delete and marks to undelete.
  • Purge deleted messages: Purges messages that are marked for deletion.

Contacts
Allows you to create a contact list of people you would like to keep up with.
You may also import a contact list from your harddrive as well as export your list.

Rules
Allows you to setup rules to discard email with unwanted words.
You may choose from:

  • Subject
  • From
  • To
  • CC
  • Atachment
  • contains
  • does not contain
  • starts with
  • ends with
  • equals
Type in the words of your choice.


Settings
When you click on Settings you will find more options here than under any other tap.
When you click on Settings you will see the following list appear to the left of the screen.
View detailed explanations by clicking on any of the tabs listed below.

To view the same explanations while logged into your email click on the question marks
that will appear on the different pages.


General
This section allows you to change your password and to forward email to another address.
There is also the option to leave a copy of your messages in the mailbox.

Home
Allows you to enter or edit your personal information. Such as: Address, Phone, Cell Phone, and Web Site, if you have one.

Business
Allows you to enter or edit you business information.

Vacation
Allows you to setup an auto reply to people, if they email you, letting them know that you are out of the office.

Anti-Virus
This section is set by InterStar. Virus protection is preset.

Anti-Spam
Under this category you have three sections. The first section gives you three options in dealing with spam.

· Delete message immediately · Tag and let message pass through (SPAM)
· Block message into Quarantine  

The second section allows you to set the level of Spam Control.

· Disabled

· Strong

· Normal

· Extreme

The last section allows you to choose which categories of email you consider spam. The categories that are not checked will not be considered spam and will be let through. Below are a list of the categories.

· Custom

· Adult

· Goods

· Money
· Hoax

· Patterns

· Health

· Miscellaneous

Attachments
This category deals with incoming messages found to contain potentially dangerous attachments.
The first section in this category will allow you to decide what to do with the attachment.

· Delete message immediately · Block message to Quarantine

The second section allows you to set the Level for Forbidden Attachments.

· Disabled

· Strong

· Normal

· Extreme

The last section has two options.

· Sender receive notifications - This option will send a message to the sender of the email letting them know that they emailed you a virus.
· Recipients receive notifications - This option will send you a message letting you know they the filter has detected a potential virus in the attachment.

Reporting
This option is not allowed.

Blacklist
This category lets you decide what to do with incoming messages that are on your block list.

· Delete message immediately · Tag and let message pass through (SPAM)
· Block message to Quarantine  

Next you may add email addresses to your block list. Just click on Add and enter an email address or domain.

Whitelist
Allows you to add email addresses that you would like to receive email from that would otherwise be considered spam.

Aliases

Display
This category will allow you to set up the

· number of messages that will be displayed per page
· number of contacts that will be displayed per page
· language your messages will be seen in as well as sent in.

Accounts

Options
Under there are five sections

· Reply Format: Lets you choose whether to reply to a message in HTML format or in text format.
· Replying to messages: Lets you choose whether to quote each line of the original message with the ">" character or to leave original text as-is.
· Your Name: Allows you to specify the name you would like to appear on outgoing emails.
· Reply to: Allows you to specify your Reply-to address if different from your main intrstar.net address.
· Signature: Allows you to set up your signature which will automatically be added to the body of outgoing messages. ( Your Name, Job Title, Contact Info, etc.)

Logoff
This will log you out of WebMail.
