Dial Up Configurations for Windows 2000

1. Click the Start button, click Settings, and choose Control Panel.


2. Double-click the Network and Dial-up Connections icon.


3. Double-click the Make New Connection icon.

Note:
If you have used the Wizard before to set up a connection it may not appear.
(If Wizard does not appear follow these instructions)
Instead a Box will appear asking for Internet Provider Name.
Type InterStar, Click Next.
You will then see a box asking for a local phone number to dial for the Internet Connection. Do not put in an area code. Type the local number you were given when you signed up. Country/Region name and code - United States of America (1) Don't put a dot or check mark by use area code and dialing rules.
Click Next, Click Finish

You now should see an InterStar Icon.
Right Click on that.
Left Click on Create Shortcut.

Message appears (Windows cannot create an icon here would you like to place the icon on the desktop?) Answer Yes. Close all windows you have open. Double Click the Shortcut (InterStar) or Double Click the blue E on your desktop. A box will appear.

Click Connect




4. Click the Next button.

 



5. Select Dial-up to the Internet and click Next.


6. Select I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN) and click the Next button.

 

7. Select I connect through a phone line and a modem and click the Next button.

 

8. Leave the Area Code field blank. In the Telephone number field, type your local access number. Uncheck Use area code and dialing rules. Click the Advanced button.

 

9. Click on the Connection tab. Be sure that the default settings remain. The only two buttons that should be checked are: PPP (Point to Point Protocol) button in the Connection type area and the None button in the Logon procedure area.

 

10. Click on the Addresses tab. At the bottom, click the Always use the following button in the DNS server address area. In the Primary DNS server field, type: 206.127.224.3 In the Alternate DNS server field, type: 206.127.224.6 Click the OK button.

 

11. You'll be returned to the Internet Account Connection Information screen again. Click NEXT.

 

12. In the User name field, type your username complete with domain extension. Example: username@intrstar.net. In the Password field, type your password. Click the Next button.

 

13. In the Connection Name field, type InterStar. Click the Next button.

 

 

14. If you have an established email account that's configured click NO at this screen to complete your dial up account. Follow your last step 15 to completion. Click Yes if you would like to continue the configuration aide. Continue with steps 16-20. Click the Next button.

 

 

15. Check the box next to To connect to the Internet immediately...if you would like to connect right away to the Internet. Click the Finish button. Congratulations! You have completed your dial up settings!

 

16. If you clicked YES to continue with setting up your email account... In the Display Name field, type your name. The name you enter here will be what email recipients will see as the sender of your emails. Click the Next button.

 

17. In the E-mail address field, type your full email address. Click the Next button.

 

18. Click the down arrow on the My incoming mail server is a __ server drop-down list and choose POP3. In the Incoming mail server field, type the POP3 mail server name specific to your domain. Example: mail.intrstar.net In the Outgoing mail server field, the text will be identical to the POP3 mail server above. Click the Next button.

 

 

19. In the Account name field, type your username. In the Password field, type your password. Check the box next to Remember password if you would like to have your password saved. Click the Next button.

 

20. Check the box next to To connect to the Internet immediately...if you would like to connect right away to the Internet. Click the Finish button.
