Windows ME Dial-Up Wizard Walk-Through

This tutorial describes in detail how to connect your Windows ME computer to FrogNet for the FIRST TIME using the Windows ME Dial-Up Connection Wizard. It is intended for new customers, or current customers who are trying to connect a new machine to InterStar for the FIRST TIME.

1. To begin the internet connection wizard, go to your Start button, to Run... and type Inetwiz, then click Okay

   

2. In the Internet Connection Wizard dialog box, first select "Connect using my phone line" and click Next

   

3. Select "Create a New Dial-Up connection"

   

4. Uncheck the "Use area code and Dialing Properties" checkbox. Pick a local dial up number closest to you. Click the Advanced button, and go to the addresses tabbed page.

   

5. For the "IP address", make sure that "Internet service provider automatically provides one" has a black dot next to it. The dot means that it is the selected option. Under "DNS server address" make sure that a black dot is next to "My ISP automatically provides a Domain Name Server (DNS) address"

   

6. Enter your InterStar Username and Password. Look closely at the username that you entered. It should look like an email address. If your username is johnsmith, then your username on this screen should look like johnsmith@intrstar.net if it doesn't add @intrstar.net to the username. If you do not know what your InterStar username is, look at your last bill. It will be listed as login, account name, or username. Click Next.

   

7. Name your connection, and click next. Note: This is used to keep track of the connection icon, using a name that you identify with InterStar usually works best.

   

8. To set up your e-mail account select Yes and click "Next."

   

9. Select "Create a new Internet mail account", and click "Next."

   

10. Enter your Display Name, and click Next Note: This name is appended to all outgoing e-mail, and can be whatever you like.

    

11. Enter your InterStar E-mail address and click next

    

12. Your Incoming mail server is a POP3 server. For Incoming mail enter mail.intrstar.net and for Outgoing Mail enter mail.intrstar.net ensure that both server names are in all lowercase letters, and click next

    

13. Enter your email address for the Account name. Enter your password and ensure that "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" is un-checked, then click next.

    

14. Congradulations, you have completed your Internet Connection Wizard Setup. Click Finish
